Cruelty to animals and punitive action
So there are significant rules in society against the grievous bodily harm of people with intent to wound, and in some countries the murder of a person results in your own life being taken.

Are societies punishments for cruelty to animals (a fine, small jail time), adequate?

Here's a video to watch.

Warning: This video might contain sequences you consider disturbing

That's soo cruel, I didn't think that humans like that exist. They should be badly punished. 10 years jail time at last. :C

I though about saying that the punishment should be their life taken. But many of you would say that I'm over reacting. But fuck, animals have a life too, it's like beating a child that can't protect himself.

Those guys need to go to the bottom of the hell.

I want these assholes to have the same thing done to them as they did to these poor animals. They are defencless animals and couldnt do anything about it. Fuck them idiots.

This is an example of a borderline post. The poster will not receive an infraction or be deleted because of the statement "I want them to have the same thing done..." etc ~m0o
We used to have 2 threads like this back in the day, about cruelty of farming methods and whatnot. It's very grim.

Here is another very graphic video which deals with cold-blooded animals.

PS: sorry for insubstantial post, I'm in a bit of a hurry now. Will elaborate on my ideas once I'm back.
Over my time on the internet, I have seen many many shocking things, things that would make most people feel physically ill. I have become desensitized and can watch things like Chechclear without even flinching. However, even the slightest hint of animal cruelty makes me sick to my stomach.

It is much harder to regulate laws on animal abuse seeing as hundreds of thousands of animals are slaughtered daily for our own use. I know that there are laws stating that the slaughter must be "humane", but at the end of the day it is still slaughter. I'm not saying that we should stop killing animals, I know that it is necessary (look up the fox hunting thread).

Animals in the situations show above have no means of defending themselves, and no means of telling any sort of authorities about the horrendous abuse. The penalties for such abuse should be a lot more severe. The people in the videos are guilty of mindless violence, and the punishment for that should be the same regardless of the target.

If you are religious, I guess you could look at Genesis and how God put us on the planet to watch over everything etc, so animal abuse is a direct breach of God's own instructions
Animal cruelty is something even Osama Bin-Laden must feel sick about. I couldn't even watch the whole thing because there was someone next to me looking horrified, much as I felt. This act of cruelty makes me feel as horrified as child abuse (of any kind). God made us the rulers of this world so we could protect it and preserve life, but people like that have no sense of mercy whatsoever and will certainly burn "down there". How anyone could do this is unimaginable. What if THEY were being hit? That would give them something to think about.

Like Rafufu said: "If you are religious, I guess you could look at Genesis and how God put us on the planet to watch over everything etc, so animal abuse is a direct breach of God's own instructions"

Which I did.

(Insert some form of an animation or a slightly wise and/or satyrical statement here)
Although Animal cruelty may be unethical, I don't beleive that it deserves punishment say up to ten years imprisonment. Animal cruelty happens all around the world all the time, and no people are there to complain, in essence it is disturbing and uneccessary but animals die, whether it be painfull or not. If we kill them painfully we kill them painfully, they may be in horrendous pain yet they do not have the brain processes we have, therefore they cannot neccsessarily think about these things. I'm not defending animal cruelty, but I am stating that punishments for it are a waste of time. Their main propoganda is to fuel your sense of sadness, and shame with their images of poor animals being torn apart while they are still alive. The fact of the matter is, humans are barbaric, humans are selfish, but in a society that has existed for hundreds of years we have learned to shave off some of those ways. If you refer back to the Medieval ages you will notice many very cruel ways of torture were established because that is how we exist. In my opinion extremist PETA members are just people who don't understand basic human nature, and the way life works.
Ecophilosophical communism... whatever the hell that is... or Psychosolcialism...

Animals are property, e.g. A man's dog a few years ago jumped over it's fence and attacked and killed a young boy. The man's owner was charged with manslaughter as a result of criminal negligence. The criminal negligence part was due to the fact that he had a dangerous property under his control (the dog). And yet, despite it being denoted and categorised as property in that case, there are still laws in place to protect animals from needless cruelty. Now, in Australia anyway, the laws don't extend that far into production animals (i.e. cows). So basically, the law is telling us that dog's are and aren't property and the cows aren't animals. I think the law needs to sort itself out and settle on something that's consistant throughout it's country.

sure animal cruelty is wrong, just kill it humanely for gods sake and get on with your life... i mean there is obviosly something wrong mentally with the animal abusers, they should seek mental help if they think toruring cows is going to solve their problems.... i understand beating your dog LIGHTLY for dissobeying severe rules, such as chewing on certain things or breaking an expensive object, but straight out no reason animal punishment is absurd...Its funny though cuz shit like this happens to people every day and nobody cares at all about them... if they cared it wouldnt happen. plain and simple
