Mosque and Cultural Center by Ground Zero NY
After a battle of protests the panel there in New York City has OK'd for the planning of a Mosque and Muslim Cultural Center to go forward and be built near Ground Zero in Manhattan. Despite residents and others who had their loved one's murdered by Muslim terrorists protesting this as a slap in the face and "honoring" Islam and the horrific act that took place there, others had this view to allow it with saying,

"The moderate Muslim voice has been squashed in America," said Bruce Wallace, who said he lost a nephew in the Sept. 11 attacks. "Here is a chance to allow moderate Muslims to teach people that not all Muslims are terrorists."

Just a note: The article states the board did not have to approve this in order for the Mosque to be built.

Now I am no expert but I would think if the Muslim community really wanted to mesh in and explain to people not all of them are terrorists, then perhaps common sense would say maybe not build at ground zero... and it will have it's opening day on Sept. 11 2011... perhaps not such a good idea either.

What do you think, guys? Will the building of this Mosque and Muslim Cultural Center near Ground Zero help the Muslim community or hinder them more?
sounded like an april fools, then i remember that that was nearly 2 months ago. this is awful, neither sides (americans nor muslims) will get anything except violence and spite out of this.

Like it says in the article, moderate Muslims haven't had their voices heard as much in America. They view the September 11 attacks as an atrocity and wish nothing but the worst for Usama Bin Laden and his heretical sect of Muslims.

IRL trolls, it seems to me. What exactly do they think building what is, to the American public, a monument to the people who destroyed the buildings formerly standing on that site on that site is actually going to accomplish?
Squad Squad Squad lead?
The standardization of Toribash Squad roles may have gone too far!

This is a free country, and if they bought that land they have the right to build whatever the hell they want there.

However, this clear provocation will not do anything good for "moderate muslim" voice in America. I don't believe they actually think it will somehow appeal to American public.
Why are so many religious places built in the worst possible spot for them? This is retarded, and I hope an arsonist torches the place when it is empty one night.

I think this is an excellent move and should serve to educate the bitter about extremist islam vs true islam.

I don't think Americans are bigoted enough to truly start hate crimes against them.

Bravo.

Hate crimes? I hope not. Spite and increased mistrust? Definitely.

How exactly is this supposed to be viewed as critical of 9/11 attacks?
This is clearly a mockery.
Totally legal, of course, but let's call things what they are. It's a slap in the face, and it's duly noted.
