Forum suggestion - reputation points
At the moment, people will only notice a member's current state of reputation when they look at the member's profile - which they most likely won't. My suggestion is that we make a member's general reputation - "Distinguised road" and all that - quickly and obviously recognisable. This could be as simple as putting "xxx has a good/bad/mediocre reputation" under "xxx"'s posts. This would be used to help members tell who might well have the most sound advice when answering a question, for example.
"Call yourself alive? I promise you you'll be deafened by dust falling on the furniture,
you'll feel your eyebrows turning to two gashes, and your shoulder blades will ache for want of wings."
Well, there's a problem with that.
All members who joined before we switched to vbulletin started out with zero, and many are still at that point.
Members who joined after, start with 10. If it was shown, it'd already be skewed.
Yes, I thought of that. Would it be within the realms of vB style editing to switch reputation points 1-10 to neutral? I assume so.

but see, they start with 10 so that when they give rep, it actually counts, not grayed out. If I were to give you negative rep, It'd have no effect, because I don't have over 10. You need at least ten rep to leave a point (fyi; veb leaves + or - 10 each time).
That's a perfectly good point, but I feel that the older members will have to "suffer" this disadvantage. Eventually, all such members will filter out of the site and it'll no longer matter.

No, I don't want you nor any other respectable senior member to drop out of the community. What I'm saying - from a analytical point of view - is that such a thing will happen regardless.

Jam, you've got the fourth highest reputation, me sixth. Therefore, another function of this feature would be to allow me to further bathe in my ego.
