Just thought I'd share my recent purchase. It's not the best laptop in the world but it sure beats playing Toribash on 1fps on my dads computer

It's a Gateway NV54.. Specs..

Intel Pentium dual core T4300 2.1ghz
15.6'' LCD
500 GB HDD
4 GB RAM
512MB Integrated Graphics

I am so in love with it!

Not that bad actually, seems like a decent laptop imo.

It probably has a smaller battery life than some better ones, the Pentium and graphics probably eat power like no tomorrow, but other than that should be fine.

If you have windows Vista or XP on it, I'd recommend downloading all your drivers from gateway and then installing windows 7, then installing the drivers on first run. Windows 7 is much quicker and nicer than windows vista, and has less problems with it. (and despite the myth that XP is faster, windows 7 is the faster of those two as well, overall.)

Well I'm on 7 and was considering moving to XP.. I can't stand windows 7. But if you say it's quicker I'll just get used to it

Yea, I've found getting used to windows 7 is worth it, takes a while, but if you hate how it acts you can use windows 7 classic mode, just go to desktop -> personalize and find the classic theme, that will make it look like windows 98 :P

Can I share about my laptop too?
Btw, you should stay with the Windows 7, although it's so hard to use.
