Wikileaks
Last thread got 'nomed, and situation has changed, so more discussion is necessary!

Since last time people complained that they had to leave the thread in order to find information (aka they had to Google it, oh the horror!), I will leave a grief synopsis;

- US forced Amazon to drop Wikileaks hosting, and then the hoster of the Wikileaks.org DNS to drop them, and then Paypal and Visa etc to drop the donation vectors. Sweden froze Wikileak's accounts.
- Assange is being held by the British, currently waiting for extradition to Sweden, from the 2 rape charges. The British guards fear for his safety from possible assassination attempts from the US.
- US is looking for anything they can charge Assange with, so they can have him (but they have to move quick).
- Anonymous of course is DDOSing Paypa, Visa, Mastercard, Amazon, etc.
- Other hackers joined in too for the fun of it.
- A splinter faction of Anon is attacking the Anon LOIC control channel, preventing hivemind control.
- Assange says this doesn't change anything, and that Wikileaks is still strong.
- Wikileaks has many redundant servers in many countries that will pop up should their main server, deep in a cold-war bunker carved in to a stone hill, go down.
- Wikileaks 'insurance policy' still looms ominously in the shadows.
- US trying to pretend the Pentagon Papers never existed, and there there is 'no precedence' for Wikileak's actions.

tl;dr: Assange arrested, Anon derping, Wikileaks still legal.
he said the sex was legit bro.

Yah, on the whole sex thingo, the first count of its been denounced as bullshit so the only thing they can get him for now is the second count which is fucking a sleeping girl, also bullshit. He gets released from custody on the 14th anyways, so it doesn't really mater.

On wikileaks, I approve of it. Transparency in governments is always good.
Right, so, the rape charges;

He was arrested first in Sweden, accused for rape. Apparently the police didn't have a shread of evidence, so they couldn't even mount a case, therefore, they let him walk.

A month later or so, Interpol suddenly finds out that they can pursue him for the exact same thing despite no new evidence being presented. You don't have to be a genius to see the conspiracy behind this.

Luckily, I feel that their plan to nail his ass is, so far, pretty poorly constructed. Unless the US manages to make a valid claim for his delivery, Julien Assange will walk free again.
I don't see anything special in this site, everyone knows/knew that USA feels greater than the rest of the world.
Documentes and files to prove it weren't really needed.
Also I laugh at all the countries being satisfied because Scotland Yard arrested him.
Americans are the ones who brought this on themselves,
if they have nothing to hide,they have nothing to fear (And now it looks they have alot to fear by trying to terminate Wikileaks funding etc.).
World needs more people like Julian Assange to show the truth.
Personally i think that those raping charges on him are obviously false.
And also its matter of time that Assange gets involved in a "accident" or just "dissappears".
Oh and yes this is only what i think about this case =)
One thing that seems a bit odd about this whole theatrical production is that whistleblowers have been around for decades releasing far more important information, and they never make mainstream media. Assange is only releasing info that anyone who's been paying any attention already knows, and yet, suddenly he's the savior of the information age.

This will just be used to crack down on media even further and institute more restrictions on the internet.

Honestly I don't think the Swedes succumbed to US pressure.
I think they are being a little aggressive in pursuing this case, but I don't think its a conspiracy.
I do think the charges are false, and that he will be eventually released.

You knew that Clinton ordered UN officials to be spied on and have personal data stolen? Or that Iran had long range strike capabilities? I think you are underplaying some of the information Wikileaks released.

Besides that, its not just about what they release, it is about the fact that they are releasing.

Assange is something of a figurehead, who represents freedom of information.
You may not think he releases the most important information (with less than 1% of the cables released, it is hard to judge), but you can certainly acknowledge that he does it in such a public way that it is not hard to see why he is said to be a hero of freedom of information.
