Anonymous plans attack on Facebook for selling information
"Remember, remember, the 5th of November."

Video containing statement here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWQTS...layer_embedded

Pretty much everything wrong with Anonymous and its cause is nicely summed up in this one video.

-Facebook is doing what its Terms of Service allow it to do, and what you agreed to let it do.
-Anonymous doesn't like this perfectly legal procedure and plans to impose its will on the public.
-Egotistically claiming to be the rulers of the internet, they tell the viewer that they will eventually agree with them, i.e., they are right and cannot possibly be wrong.
-It claims to champion free speech and protect freedom of information, but is essentially forcing you into privacy "for your own good."
-They're just taking down another service they dislike with their petty ddos-gun.

Hey look more than two lines.
I actually saw this on the Today show this morning.

I'm not sure if they will accomplish this, considering how many people actually use facebook (pretty much the entire world), but anonymous is anonymous, they can do anything they put their heart to.

Anyway, I couldn't care less. I don't use facebook.
Kind of hard to take them seriously when they have such an un scary voice. I was laughing through most of this.

Facebook sucks anyway, is this their official channel ? Could it not just be some wannabe troll?
Pc running slow? Think you are infected or just want a general clean up? Try this.

I freaking love these guys,
Next: Youtube? Google?
inb4 OMG GOOGLE iS ImPoSSAble HARGLE FARGLE BLAH!

On-Topic- would be awesome if they did "hack" facebook, well because i don't use it, and my mom spends too much time on it with her phone....

(For all spellfreaks, i know how to spell "impossible")
Facebook is actually a bigger point of information than most would think. The packets sending here and there always carry vital information. They can be tracked easily, and could cause huge damage. Hitting facebook may end in a bigger hole in the internet then anyone could imagine.
That guy named Poppo
You know, the leader of Fyre.
A. No one gives a damn about ToS. When is the last time you've sat down and read it.

B. Legal =! Moral correct. For one, who thinks these anonymous guys are assholes, I also think that the activities facebook takes part in are bullshit. It would be better if they were reviewed by a court, and morally 'enhanced', instead of an attack.

I do not support anonymous in any way, but I can't see any 'bad' coming from this.
Hoss.
Well the Facebook privacy policy only states that they won't give out your information to marketers, but doesn't say anything about selling it to government agencies.

Additionally, it is possible to delete your account but it's stated that Facebook "may retain certain information to prevent identity theft and other misconduct even if deletion has been requested." And any information you had stays on there for up to 90 days, after which Facebook's backups are renewed.

Whilst they're not breaking any laws by doing this, I agree with Hyde in saying that it isn't morally correct conduct. I certainly don't want governments (or anyone for that matter) spying on my activities on Facebook, regardless of the fact that I haven't been doing anything illegal.

On the subject of Anonymous' attack, i'd actually like to see how it goes. A successful attack on Facebook would make massive news, and the media would probably label them as stealing your personal information. Oh the irony.
I don't think this will happen. I think that if it is brought down it will be rogues, not under the banner of Anon. If I am wrong I will be equally not surprised. I do and don't care if FB is brought down. I do if it impacts my life at all, but for the most part I use Facebook to to perv, get invites to parties, post random status updates and likes a million things at once.

I don't like the check-in system as it literally tells everyone where I currently am and if I check-in there a lot and the government wanted to kidnap me then all the intel is done for them.

ALL HAIL THE METAPHOR!!
I'm indifferent to facebook. I don't care what happens, but honestly, I think Anonymous are all talk and no walk.
the inner machinations of my mind are an enigma
I hope they hack it, honestly. I use facebook, but selling my information was not of my knowledge until after I signed up. It's wrong, but i'll keep on using facebook.
