My comp may have gotten a little wet from the mist while I was moving it.

Dell optiplex 755 minitower winxp sp3

My mobo had a yellow light, comp wont turn on. I tested the PSU fan, and it didn't work. Replaced.

Comp turns on, but my wg111t wireless adapter can't get me internet. Its powered on, but ipconfig says dhcp server can't be contacted. So now I try linux. Ndiswrapper has the driver loaded, but modprobe doesn't start it up. I still have a yellow light on mobo.

The adapter works,and the software is fine, but it seems like some piece of hardware died and now it just wont work. Ideas?

win32_networkadapterconfiguration fails in all parts in winxps network diagnostics.

Sounds hardware failure to me.
When you we're moving it you needed to wait a bit for it to dry. Otherwise you risk your own hardware.
Im not sure why this is happening, computers can handle thousands of different issues.

I didn't plug it in for a day, but I think charged capacitors must have gotten hit.

In Linux:
What does lsusb -v and dmesg have to say about the wireless adapter when you plug it in?
(unplug it, run dmesg -clear, plug it in, wait 30 seconds, run dmesg)

In Windows:
Set the wireless to a static IP in the same range as the router (if router is 192.168.1.1 try 192.168.1.2) and see if you can ping or access the web pages of the router.

Generally:
Borrow a friend's wireless dongle and see if that works, it may be the wireless dongle which has died, rather than your motherboard/pc.

Can't access router despite static ip.

I'm baffled at how my motherboard isn't dead, but possibly only a part of it which gets me internet? Is that really possible? I can open er up and look for the problem, if I knew what to look for.

If the nic card is bad, how does that effect my usb wifi dongle?

Would a usb nic fix the problem of a bad onboard nic?

Ignore all that. USB dongle was dead. It turned on, it chatted with the local computer, it says it connected to a wifi, but it doesn't actually give me internet.

WTH.

Oh well, new one, all good.
