Buying a Laptop
I need to get a laptop for university and I was wondering if I could get some assistance.

My budget is $1000 AUD and I need something with a fairly lengthy battery life and at least a 500gb harddrive. Other details aren't too important.

Any suggestions?

Also which company should I go with?

I would be researching and stuff but I've got alot happening right now.

If your laptop is just for University, and not for gaming, then don't care about the graphics. Try IBM (I think that's what they're called), they have good working computers and they are fairly cheap.
I would suggest a Chromebook seeing as it is for university, as you will have internet connection most of the time that you need it.

If you aren't one for a web-based OS, then I would look at anything categorized as a netbook, or ultraportable.

I wouldn't take Arc's advice, you only need 2gb of RAM at max, not 8, and that graphics card is overkill, not to mention that it is quite heavy and large, and i7 is way too powerful.

@Cocoacobra: The i7-720QM is a quad core, it is far more powerful than your phone :P
