I think eyes will kind of ruin it, I tried some different variations but not one of them really worked out for me, and no pupils kinda created an interesting effect which I wanted.

there's something about the shape of the face that's off-putting

Very nice! I love the shading, especially around the nose. The only thing that I don't really like is how you gave the bags under the eyes so much "pop." They look too puffy.

The nose looks very odd. You did a good job on the painting though.

it has no cheek bones
and the left eye doesnt follow the contours of the face.
other than that its pretty cool
not quite as cool as the portrait of your brother, but cool nontheless
