Death? More like black metal. But yes I listen to them and they're okay. Not really that interesting musically other than the clean choruses but just good because it's hard to find anything else that the intensity of their music.

Anaal nathrakh has a huge black metal influence and I'd call them black metal before any other genre... but furthermore only half of the things I posted were black metal (AND they're both made by the same person) so...
And no, Metallica is boring as well and I don't give bands credit just for being influential...
And I thought of another band that doesn't really seem "brutal" to me but someone else might think that, and it's just good:
