The term minimalistic is being thrown around a lot. Too many people are using it and not understanding what it really is. This is minimalistic

I always interpreted it to mean "less is more". Or at least "less/little can still be good".

Minimalism is quite a large and diverse style often characterized by simplicity and negative space. Google "minamlist art", it's not something that can so easily be explained.

As far as I've seen in minimalistic texture sets is that it's mostly white background with simple lines so that it's minimal and simplistic and minimaslistic. I kinda geddit now.
