Need advice from a head texture artist!!!
I recently got into making textures and one thing that's really been bugging me is the distortion on the top of your Tori's head. Is there any way to by pass this or is it unavoidable?

Note:
I know how the head mapping works, I use the template and all but I am confused why lines at the top of your head get distorted when they are supposed to be curved.

Any help solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to an example of my problem: http://postimg.org/image/kfqmvk91r/

To make an image to cover a sphere the final image will have obviously different proportion from the flat one. The distorition on the top and on the bottom (that you can't see because there is the neck) is so because you have to image the top edge of the flat texture all concentrated in one point: the top point all the sphere.

There is no way to fix it, you can only make the top part with a monocolor and dont texture it.
