Probably best described by what people were running the community at the time.

2007-mid (?) 2008 = "I bought the game respect me" era
Mid (?) 2008-2009 = "I am technically oldfag respect me" era
2010-2011 = "Man wibbles is great/an eye sore" era
2011 = "Thank god the wibbles are deleted/BRING WIBBLES BACK" era
2012-2015 = "Of fuck everybody decent is inactive we are stuck with the newfags and the corrupt staff" era.

Thats my opinion. As kitfox said, the staff from that time definitely have more info or beter opinions.

I was talking more along the lines of the people who were running things at any given point are a good indicator of how things were going. ie the "veb era" or the "alpha team era" or what have you. not necessarily that the staff would be the best at explaining.
