When creating a thread, a player would be able to check off an option such as "Allow anonymous posts" which will allow players to state their input without being judged by outside influence.
Example: A player is treated like crap ingame and on the forums because people associate their name with their past actions. Instead, the person that is seen as an outcast can say something without worrying about being judged because of their mistakes. This will be useful for debate threads, item and art marketing, forum and art related events, suggestion threads, basically any thread.
Posters will have an option to appear anonymous when writing a response, which to the average toribasher, will show the player's avvy as a default picture and won't display their details besides the word Anonymous as their username. Staff members will be able to see who the person remaining anonymous is (for crime stopping purposes). Players will be able to quote an anonymous player's post and players may quote another person while staying anonymous. Note: Players must be logged in to use the anonymous feature, so that staff members can identify them.
Concept art: In progress..
Tell me what you fellas and fellettes think. I'll try not to judge your opinion differently if I know you ;)
for the extremely large majority of the forum.. this is a shit idea... for instance just think of how badly this would fuck up the market section... there are two place i could legitimately see this working... The Suggestions & Ideas board, and the off-topic board... reason being they are the two boards i can see that you don't really need to know the person's name on
Please read the whole first post before commenting on the idea, otherwise you look plain dumb.
You are able to check if you want to post anonymously. So you can still post in the market thread as your normal self without "Fucking shit up"
This is actually a pretty nice idea. I am all for it.
yea why dont you think ahead i little bit before you attempt to bash me. here is what i was thinking when i said what i said, people would just be dicks and purposely check off the anonymous box and they will say something like "full 512 joints only 1tc! first to send to me gets it!" see the problem now bud

This wouldn't be a problem. Mods should be able to see their real name, since you'd still have to be logged in to post.
I like the idea but not sure its worth the effort and is really necessary. Maybe in discussion it would be worthwhile but it would have to disabled in market because its not needed there and buyers need to check if the seller even has the item. I think it wouldn't be too bad to implement. The only place where I see this being in effect is in discussion, I would post my opinion a lot more in discussion if it were anonymous because I often play devils advocate and too many people take it personally so I just avoid posting there. Discussion needs posts. I'm really on the fence about this one. If anything I would only make it available for discussion.
It's useful for people competing in art events, so that they won't be judged because of their name.
For the item checking situation, instead of saying "inventory of ___" it could say "inventory of anonymous". It is possible however to see who it is through great effort by using the Texture and flames identification megathread to figure out who created a singular post, but to go through all that hassle to find out who made one post, you deserve to figure it out.
It can also be used for more fair clan recruitment.
