So, looking at the index there is a really good list of boards, that generally seem to be well-moderated, and that cover a lot of topics.

However, in my time here I've noticed that sometimes I've wanted to submit a thread that doesn't really belong to any currently existing board, and I realised it was simply that there is no board for general Toribash discussion. There are loads for media, items, art, which is great. There is also an off-topic discussion board. But for Toribash, we lack one.

I think not having one stunts the voice of the community in a way; we can't discuss common openers, countering certain situations, anything "meta," etc.

tl;dr I propose that new a new board be created exclusively for discussion of Toribash gameplay.

Well i kinda agree with this. 'Cause even in the beginner sanctuary you cant teach ppl the joint sequence of a move directly etc. Clans may have this thing but there is a big difference.

If you want a conversation about Toribash on the 'quality-level' of the current Discussion board, then you already have it. The Discussion board hosts threads that are both related to Toribash and not-related (see the mod threads for example). In other words, threads about Toribash aren't excluded from the board (they just have to meet the quality standards).

If you want a place less strict than Discussion to have your thread, then the Off-Topic board suits that purpose.

The need for this feature ('there's no board to post critical Toribash threads') becomes obsolete since the Discussion board caters for this topic of conversation already.

I think having a dedicated forum would encourage more healthy discussions about the game.

Yeah, you could use the normal discussion board for it, but thats not what it is really used for. How can you encourage toribash discussion with that?

The same way that we have different sub forums in the offtopic board.

There are 2 problems though. We have quite a few too many boards and forums already. We also have a suggestions and ideas board which would eat up a portion of the discussions and vise versa.

The reason there's no board for TB discussion is because this function is fulfilled by a huge amount of other boards:

- Discussion
- Off topic
- Clan Discussion (albeit within a smaller user base)
- Various orgs
- THE SECTION OF THE FORUMS TITLED 'TORIBASH'

Finally, as Link already pointed out - we have enough boards as it is.

errr, Fear. Read more than the title. You can't quite dismiss this entirely, because he does bring up a valid point.

There's isn't a proper place for the topics he's brought up, and if a thread concerning any of those were made in any existing boards, the thread would be closed.

At the very least, I think changing some of the rules for a specific board to accommodate stuff like this is an option.

The point is, the rules do not need to be changed, since they already accommodate for the types of threads members are looking to create. Creating other boards would sprawl out the userbase even more so than it is right now. We are looking at removing boards, not creating new ones.

But, at the moment, the community's members are looking to create are threads that actually have a place in the forums. They know what does and doesn't belong. Even when threads that pertain to topics suggest by the OP are made, they are closed because they don't currently have a home in the forums. There's nowhere they actually belong. You know, this would go a lot easier if you drop the pretense that the forums have a home for every type of thread, because that's simply not true.

If you'd actually read my post (Fearv2 ffs tbh imo smh) you'd notice I didn't go so far to suggest that we should add a new board. What I DID suggest, however, is that we rewrite the rules for a specific board or repurpose a board to allow for such threads.

Well, I thought about the effect and how we could change the rules. I have concluded that it would hurt what we have basically been trying to do by applying this in such a way. It also probably won't fit in with everything else in the rules. I don't think they were trying to talk out of their ass. I generally think they just wanted to demote the idea from the harm it could cause in a simplistic manner. (but idk I'm stupid)

I did imply that we suggest a way we could come up with that gets around that. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble in thinking of one. I think others are as well. That's why this is going nowhere.

The quantity of the boards is the problem because the solution to this would to simply create another one.
