Sony Vegas issue...
Well, hi.

My issue is that whenever I try to import a longer clip into sony vegas (I have both 7 and 8b.), it only imports the audio. It shows up in the "Project Media" bin, and it's perfectly working, but when I drag it to the workboard, I only get an audio track, even if I made a video track and drag it on to there. Clips that are like 2 - 5 minutes work, but not longer clips (like 10 - 40 minutes). Is this a problem anyone knows how to fix? In that case, help would be appreciated.

I've had several experiences like that, and although I never found a cure knowing what causes them can help with working around them.

Xvid - It'll export it perfectly but try & import one & you'll hit a major problem. It'll preview perfectly, but when you render any sections with imported Xvids they have a blank screen with sound.

RAM - I managed to chew 2gig, and any subsequent clips I added we're blank.

CODECS - I had a problem using full frame (uncompressed) clips with alpha enabled, it resulted in inverted colours. The same clips using different codecs worked fine.

I have successfully used Vegas with excessively long clips (50mins +) and managed to get a video to roughly 3 hours.

*All using Vegas Pro 8a*

I tried the K-lite shit, didn't do anything positive for me.

The files are usually avi. And I can't even import the video, just audio.

Any idea what codec the AVI is using?

instead of downloading the klite codec pack, try the cccp codec pack instead.
Seems to be a wee bit better. I'm using Vegas Pro 8.0b and never encountered a similar problem.
<Alan> lol, rutz, it might be cool to smell your ass all the time you touch the mic

Could you link the cccp shit?

skulfuk: no idea.

Defqon: Might try it, but I need divx to even play avi, etc, right?

(btw, I know nothing about codecs or... anything, really.)
