I need ideas.
This book is going to be a story that contains tons of other stories in it, basically. It will be following the stories of "The Grim Reaper", and many other beings that intertwine with his neverending life. Its pretty much impossible to describe what this story is going to be about, though, with the complete freedom of things I can do in it. The freedom comes from the fact that the book wont be just one story, but many, many others which come together and fall apart. Each one being in each of these catagories: Heaven, Hell, or Earth. This isn't anything like a bible. Not very much in it isn't fiction. So dont think you're 'turning religious' if you contribute anything here involving a biblical character.
What you can do:
What I need you to do is come up with characters, basically. You can make your character any of these: A damned soul who lives out his days in Hell (These people are awesome. Basically the Hell Im creating for this story is going to be as dangerous and terrifying as I can make it, so these characters will be facing whatever terror I throw in their way, trying to survive and escape painful deaths over and over again. These guys don't play a big part of the story, but its very entertaining to read. Also there will be some main characters in the story who live in hell.'), or a "King" demon (These guys are in hell too, though they can travel out of there at times. Their names will be representing a power like Wrath, Judgement, Revenge, or a sin like Lust, Murder, Hate, Greed, Lies, Vanity, etc. These play big parts in the story.), or a Normal Demon (these people enjoy torturing and killing the residents of hell, or even fighting Angels. They get into the story a good amount of times. They can even be important characters.), or an Angel (Only very good character sketches made by you will be accepted. Angels play a huge part in the story and they come into it often. They also do the most things and are one of the most interesting characters of the book.), or a person living in Heaven,(Mostly I'm gonna use these guys to create happy atmospheres or dramatic endings to stories. I'll be using them to describe how wonderful Heaven is as the same way I use the other characters to describe how horrible hell is. They can be important characters, too.), or Humans (You can make them criminals, atheists, soccer moms, people with cancer, gays, lesbians, families, boyfriend&girlfriends, orphans, you get the idea. Anything that could be used to create a good story. I need lots of these.)

I'll mark down here if any of the mortal characters die and get moved to Hell or Heaven as a status. I'll also mark down if Im writing about them right now.
For hell, you can also write down a "special area" where your King Demon could live, or a place of horrors that people would best avoid if they didn't want to be slowly and painfully killed(Or anything else you could think up.)

Those were the characters, but if you ever want a story to be written down in my book, give me a summary of it and if its something I can use, I'll actually write it down into a full story.
I'm going to be picky with those though. I want something that would actually turn into something great. Keep note that there may be fifty some stories in this book alone, so you have time to think up something awesome. Stories can be from a single page long, to 50 pages long, so don't worry about what kind of story you give me, either. (it has to have something to do with the book, obviously,) I'll shorten it or lengthen it to what would seem the best it could be.
What I will do:
Obvious stuff: I will be writing the entire story, and placing the characters you make into actual roles, and I'll convert summaries you give me into usually 15 page long tales.
But don't get me wrong. I'm coming up with a lot of things on my own as well. I'll be making my own characters to interact with yours, and I'll come up with my own stories, etc. But
it will be a lot funner for you if this thing gets published and you get to read your angel you made fight off against 5 other bloodthirsty demons to escape hell itself, or your character to be attacked by a rapist, leaving you to struggle for a way out alive. Or to see anything you've contributed to be published to an actual book, really.
So yeah, I aim to publishing this thing. With a good amount of encouragement and with the help of your ideas, it will be very likely that my intentions will come true.
If you want previews, I'll give you peices of the story so you can see how your character is holding up. However, I wont be sending them till I have a good amount of stuff written. I'll say what Im currently writing right at this moment, down at the bottom of this post.

Fill out these forms; they will be the things that you can create character sketches on. Feel free to make your own, though. Also if you're making more than one character, say a family or a couple, state that next to the "Type of Character" spot.

Location: Hell (For humans just say the town and country. I can figure out the earth part myself.)
Backstory: For the last few thousand years, Kayne has done duties as the Grim Reaper. Taking dead souls to be judged at the gates of Heaven, where it was decided if they went to heaven, or Hell. After years of sadness, Kayne developed a conscience, a heart, and actually turned into a nice person at times.
Personality: (This will most likely decide if your character goes to Heaven or Hell. Unless I make the person change due to a near death experiance or you say otherwise.) Kayne could be described as a kind old man, but if he gets angry, he'll have no problem taking you down or separating your head from your body with his scythe. If he wanted to, Kayne could be one of the deadliest in hell. Except that he'd much rather spend his time doing his job as the Reaper and doing the good he can rather than tearing soul's bodies limb from limb.
Gender: Male
Appearance: Picture how the Grim Reaper would be shown on a poster on a freaky halloween day, but instead of a skeleton and a mask, picture him as a beast. A wolf, maybe.

Just so you know, I need an equal amount of girl characters as with guy characters. Maybe I need more girls than guys, actually.

BY THE WAY PEOPLE, CHARACTERS WHO ARE EITHER DEAD, OR AN ANGEL/DEMON CANNOT BE SEEN AND CANNOT INTERACT WITH LIVING BEINGS. PLEASE DONT MAKE CHARACTERS WHO CAN DO THIS.

sounds interesting, sort of like something chaucer might write. anyways, here are to possible character ideas that have been bouncing around in my head for a while. first off

Type: restless spirit
Name: no one really knows, but he is widely known as i'dinaer (the silent one)
Age: reports of him/her visiting roaving travelers have been coming in for over 400 years.
Location:earth
Backstory: he(or she) was once a normal human, but was killed somehow (I think you can fill this stuff in). after dying, however, he could not move on because there was something he needed to find, or something he needed to do (you pick). however, he cannot remember what it was that he needed to find/do, and is forced to forever roam the earth, attempting to restore his memory and find what he lost(or whatever). to top it all off, he can't even speak with anyone from earth, because his condition as a spirit allows only visual contact, not audial. little does he know that the thing he seeks is very widely known to everyone, if he only could ask them...
Personality: tell it as a time lapse, starting from the point at which he loses his memory(skipping a few hundred years every now and then. time doesnt mean much to him anymore...). he starts out without any real personality to speak of, but it slowly builds as he learns more about himself. First extreme curiosity, followed by desire and longing to be able to speak to and touch others around him, and finally the total despair of one who has been completely lost and forgotten by the rest of the world.
Gender: generally accepted as male, but it's difficult to tell...
Appearance: medium height, including a foot of clearance beneath his dangling, semi-transparent feet. he has gray, wiry, shoulder length hair and a white mask with nothing but two eyeslits and a black crescent on it's right half. other than that just think standard ghost...
Weapon: none. in fact, no physical contact of any kind is possible...
Extra stuff: write the entire story from his point of view alone, and refer to himself as simply I

and the other I will post when I have more time (im supposed to be writing two dif essays right now :P). also, have you read any clive barker stuff? He does a lot of that kind of writing and it might give you a few ideas. neil gaiman has a few as well (angel islington from neverwhere, and he had a great short story about angels and creation in Smoke and Mirrors).

Here you go, you guys. Here's Part 0, where I do a little backstory about Kayne and the book itself. Its a sample of my writing skills.

Kayne wasn't dead, or alive either, I guess. His state was the same as any soul that had been damned to Hell was.
However, one look at him and you'd know that he wasn't just the same as the normal atheist or criminal or whatever that got sent down. It was obvious.
He wore a long, black robe that covered his entire body, and from the robe he had a long hood that veiled his head. And although he wasn't weilding it right now, he carried a weapon that the eyes of deceased souls recognized instantly as he came to them. He carried a scythe, its blade held by a long stick.
He was known as the Reaper.
That was his most common name, anyways. He had quite a few. Taker, Vanisher, Deathbringer, the Creature of Final Judgement, Seperator... and Wrath.
For thousands of years, he's brought doomed souls to Judgement, where it would be decided if the person would be sent to salvation in Heaven, or be damned to Hell. For whats seemed like an eternity, he's spent his days separating crying families from the dead soul of a father or a child or a wife, who would be crying to Kayne to take him back, cause he/she wouldn't be ready to die. They'd scream at him, they'd curse him and tell them they hated him until the truth finally sunk in, and they walked to the gates of heaven to be read for the Book of Life.
The emotional torture was part of his punishment. Even though Kayne couldn't remember his memories of his life when he was alive, he knew that a person's punishment delivered from hell was set from the life they'd lived as a human being, but twisted the 'perfect' way to hurt the particular person deeper than anything else could.
There was something unique about Kayne, though. After thousands of years of seeing the pain of death being racked across humanity's hearts... he developed a heart of his own, in a way. A concscience. As he took the sad souls to Judgement, he did everything he could to make the person feel better if it was needed. Giving people warnings about hell and ways to escape avoidable suffering, or comforting a crying child or mother by telling them how happy they would be if they made it to heaven.
After a while he wasn't like the sadistic, demented creatures or pure evil that also represented a suffering or a sin, even though he looked like one. Perhaps he would have even been allowed into heaven at this time if he was still alive. He didn't just ignore the horrible things that his 'brothers' did to people, or the suffering that was caused throughout hell's lands.
He rebelled against it. So even though Kayne can walk through hell's lands without trouble from others, he's known throughout the entire place for his behavior. Hated by the cruel, but honored by the one's he saved from certain torture.
With the world becoming more horrid, Kayne doesn't have to spend lots of time in hell from the large amount of deaths coming in. The only real way that he keeps up is the fact that he doesn't live in a state of time. Belonging to a place like Hell where time doesn't exist. However when an Angel 'generously' takes over his job for a few days or so, he's left to walk the streets of the unforgiving, deadly grounds of Hell itself. It was a lucky day when he made it through a whole "time off" without being ripped to shreds by the whip grass that had a liking to sprout out of the ground anywhere, any time, and bring a brutal death to its victim.
And of course, the said victim wouldn't actually die until it's brain itself was not able to function. Or to put it more specifically, till the brain was broken as well.
So needless to say, Hell was a horrifying place.
Kayne wasn't a human anymore. Not since he became Wrath. He still walked on two legs and had to arms with fitting hands at the end, but his eyes were crimson instead of the green they'd used to be. He pretty much looked like the Grim Reaper you would see on a halloween poster, but instead of a skeleton with a mask, picture him as an animal. A wolf maybe.
Thats the closest way its possible to describe the fearsome way he looked. If you saw him ever, you wouldn't want to run away screaming, but you'd be very wary of every move he made.
Being the Reaper though, it was very exciting at times, due to his rebellion against evil. Sometimes a demon would get the urge to try and tear him apart, and sometimes they'd succeed, but Kayne was a very, very powerful guy. Not many people can take him down, even with three others at their side.
There were also some good times in the role of being the Reaper. Ways to cheat out some of his punishment in hell. He's actually made some special friends, angels, who spend time with him sometimes. They were the main thing that kept him from going crazy after all these millenia of doing his duties, ending life and love. And in his opinion it was a blessing that he had them.
However in this tale, there are so many more people than the Angels who will intertwine with his life...

Personality: Asrah was a calm person in the human world,but in the spirit world,he is angry most of the time,and ready to trow the couch to one of the humans

Name: Ashan.
Age: 1933 years old.
Location: Hell.
Backstory: In life, Ashan's real name was Steve Matthews, a sour, dark individual who played on people's fears. Steve had been on the run for crimes he had committed, such as murder, rape, necrophilia and paedophilia. Having been on the run for the majority of his life, feeding his sick, insane desires, the people in which he had approached to keep him safe turned on him. It was more profitable to the anonymous gangsters to turn him over and receive the bounty on his head. The plan was taken up with the boss, who agreed to the betrayal, though he wanted more money than what was on offer. Steve was tortured and videos were sent to the police in return for a raised bounty. Figures and videos were sent to and fro until something was decided, by then, it was too late for Steve, who had been claimed by dementia and schizophrenia during the tortures. Unable to co-operate with the secret services, they locked him away and ended his life. This was where Kayne claimed him.
Personality: Batshit crazy, unpredictable, anxious.
Gender: Male (Spirit)
Appearance: Rugged, hunched appearance, bald, aside from the occasional whisps of white hair dotted around upon his head, his lower jaw, chest, upper thighs and upper arms are stripped of skin, showing his bare muscle and tendons, though, his chest muscle has been burrowed into, showing the ribcage and the hole in which his heart used to lie.
Weapon: None, though he can corrupt the minds of others less powerful and send them insane, nobody knows exactly what he does, but the victims beg him to be merciful.
Extra stuff: Kayne likes him?
