Chess event is canceled. Basically, only few ppl shown up, I got angry and closed the whole thing. What's worst, I'm now permanently embarrassed in front of the event makers and will never do any event in the future.

Dude, dont give up, that was a mistake. You will learn of your own faults.
And make events in the future. I recommend you to make a Big-prize tournament now. you will make people happy. ;P
