You mean he will fucked up game physics?
I'm waiting to see how will that work too. He said that you will be able to 'shut down' computer that helps to calculate all thruster forces and angles, and do some stuff that is common in space, like, not slowing the inertia, and doing the 360 turn while going in one direction.
If you are good pilot with good understanding how Newtonian physics work, you will be able to pull off some very nice moves.
Also, ship has a reactor that is providing power for all other ship's components (shield, engine, computers, weapon, etc) and all is connected by 'pipes' So, depending where are u hit, if some pipe is broken, you can lose some systems. Than damage display activates and you have to reroute the power through working 'pipes' to fix the damage. Imagine doing that under fire.
Awesome.
Some of the large ships are already done. There is a corvette called 'Idris' which needs 4 people to operate + it can take 8 passengers! You can walk through ship, and you have to do it, since if you are under attack you have to run toward the gun turrets and defend the ship, while someone has to be the pilot. Some others have to go to engineering room and watch for the flow from reactor and fix things if they get damaged. Crazy stuff! ;]
