typing speedtest
A friend of mine linked me this site. It's a test to see how many words you can approximately type in a minute...
so, I'll just leave this here...
http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/
and my results in 3 languages (not first tries ofc)
Finnish (My native language):
You reached 339 points, so you achieved position 23 of 85 on the ranking list
You type 425 characters per minute
You have 58 correct words and
you have 0 wrong words
English (who doesn't need English nowadays):
297 points, so you achieved position 510 of 6449 on the ranking list
You type 399 characters per minute
You have 67 correct words and
you have 2 wrong words
Dutch (similar repertoir of letters compared to my native Finnish):
You reached 233 points, so you achieved position 107 of 150 on the ranking list
You type 323 characters per minute
You have 48 correct words and
you have 2 wrong words
___
As you can see, there's a pattern. Almost as many words in dutch because of the similar letters, but fails because of not being familiar with the words. More in English than in Finnish because the words are shorter (technically the shortest words that are used often in the Finnish language are four letters, given a few exceptions), and because the keyboard is designed for the language. but then again, fails because it uses letters I use less when I type in MSN (probably the place where I type most)
If you do the test, I'd like to know how you write, or at least whether or not you use the 10-finger system. I myself don't, I use about three fingers of my left hand and two of my right (wut? That's just how it comes naturally to me), and I'm a rightie. I know the keyboard pretty much by heart, but couldn't recite it, only type pretty much whatever you told me to blindfolded, or tap a tabletop where the keys would be.
