Easy and Effective Opener for Beginners: ARMRIPPER!
Hey folks, I've just started playing Toribash and I was messing around with Free Play until I came up with a really clean armrip move that might not be so efficient in higher up levels, but is GREAT for newbies to do. If the opponent keeps their arm in the same starting location for more than about 20 frames, then it'll get ripped off by frame 18. Take a look at the replay armripper. Here's how to do it:
Armripper (right hand swing)
Hold all
Right shoulder relax
Right hand grab
Contract right pec
Turn chest left
Turn lumbar left
Contract left hip
Contract right hip
Contract left knee
To do an Armripper on the other side, just reverse everything.
It's often good in Judo because even if it doesn't work as an armrip, it ends up in a smart grab when the opponent tries to duck or do some move that doesn't involve grappling -you- in the first turn; the dropping position leaves you in a very balanced stance as well (see nice2, nice3). Also, if you do successfully rip an arm off, it puts you in an able position to slam it to the ground for a disqualification (see armripper2; I was only DQed here because I wasn't paying attention to my landing).
I'm sure some pros out there could make my move more efficient or turn it into many other types of moves.
