error: a timeout was reached
You know the jazz. When I open up toribash for the first time after an install, it won't let me log in, but instead "error: a timeout was reached" is seen below the password textbox.
As said I have reinstalled the game very recently, that's what made this happen in the first place. I updated from 3.72 to 3.8.
What's worse, ever since 3.5 or so I've been hella slow and laggy before I get to pop on MP (just the server list), after which it runs smoothly. now that I can't log in, I naturally can't get that fps boost either.
I added both tb and toribash from the new, 3.8 directory to my automatically allowed applications, with and inbound allow and an outbound prompt. I'm using f-secure 2009.
I'm running vista 32bit, which is pretty much grounds for turning my computer into a crappy room fan, but still, it ran 3.72 OK, and according to my logic, 3.8 is only better.
here's what the stderr reads:
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay (5)
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay\DefaultIcon (5)
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay\Shell\open\command (5)
Unable to retrieve login information
Unable to retrieve login information
Unable to log in. Curl error: 28 a timeout was reached
While waiting for answers, I'll try if deleting the old version's directory helps in any way.

Well, deleted toribash-3.72, and it still won't work. here's what the stderr looks like now:
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay (5)
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay\DefaultIcon (5)
set_regedit_key : failed to open Toribash.Replay\Shell\open\command (5)
Unable to retrieve login information
Unable to retrieve login information
Unable to log in. Curl error: 28 a timeout was reached
Unable to log in. Curl error: 28 a timeout was reached
Unable to log in. Curl error: 28 a timeout was reached
So you can stop waiting now, help me goddamnit.
I'll try allowing outbound too, also for the mere reason that I just understood the "prompt" is also the reason I always snap out of TF2 when I join a server.

wasn't too hopeful about that, but still, no dice. I'm not going to post my stderr a third time, it still looks the same (the multiplying of the last line is probably because I clicked the "login" button several times last time, but only once the first)
HELL NAW! Now I have an ominous feeling I know what it is. There's no folder named Archlurps in the custom directory... how the hell can I update it if I can't go MP without being able to log in... wat?

Reason: exact wording&punctuation of the error message
