[Music] Original Compositions
Here are some compositions I created using finale notepad 2008.
Samples:
1)
Romantic Reminiscence
I made this one at the end of my theory IV year. This was going to be my final but I never finished it and started another project. I really like it though. This is probably one of the better chord sequences I've used. I try to stay away from all that "major" bull crap.
2)
The Storm
This piece was meant to depict a strom building and then suddenly leaving. I think I did a fair job.
3)
Strife
This is a work in progress. I started it in theory IV and still haven't finished it. It's nice and elegant. My main focus was trying to increasingly thicken the texture.
4)
Variations on "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas"
This was a homework assignment for theory III. I started with the main theme and just a nice homophonic texture. (The progression kind of reminded me of Pachabell's Cannon.) Then the second theme is a little lighter with a fast moving accompaniment. The third on is just a little bit of fun! and the forth was my attempt at creating a renaissance version.
5)
Thrill Ride
This was made on summer vacation between theory II and theory III. It was pretty much made out of boredom. But that's not always a bad thing. This piece makes me picture a vampire, or some other scary Halloween figure, chasing kids through a theme park. Kind of a weird thought but...
6)
Duet for Guitar and Flute
As you may have guessed this is a duet for guitar and flute. not much to say on this. It has a nice progression.
7)
My Final Exam
This is the piece I used for my final exam. This one doesn't have much in the way of chord structure but it still works. The bass pretty much drives the piece forward. My goal was to make a "Haunted Carousel" piece. And I believe I did a good job in depicting it. I don't know why I like haunted carnival rides but meh. But this piece is pretty cool. It starts slow and builds just like a real carousel. I like it.
Will add more later.
