How come you need a certain amount of Qi to get an item how come you cant just buy it???

Think of it an unlocking the next level of items. In most games, you can't get the crazy cool stuff until you're a higher level. Toribash is the same, where you can't get some of the coolest colors/items until you're a higher level.

It's a reward for playing the game, something for players to look forward to.

wut? you cannot buy Qi. you can buy tc, but not Qi.The only way to earn Qi nowadays is to fight matches.

you can buy qi. but that was a long time ago. buying qi made some problems for nabi.

You can buy a QI booster.
Lasts for however long you pay for and gives 2 QI per fight rather than 1.

Players that gained qi fairly (normally 10th dan and higher) would often rage at those who bought qi. Some found it to be a shortcut or cheating at the time.
