But for ease of use, use the chat function on the forum. link.

If you have a mac, you can use a program called Colloquy.

Chatzilla is relatively easy to learn to use (if you use Mozilla Firefox). It's an addon though, not standalone.

I highly recommend XChat 2 for windows users.

How does it suck? I find it quite useful... For those who don't have any IRC client.

Yeah, the chat function far from sucks. It makes IRC much more usable from users who don't won't to go through the effort of finding a client, which is a surprising amount. I also find it really handy for when I'm at college.
