Most of you are aware of the recent earthquake that killed thousands of Haitians this past week.

The question is-should the US really be offering aid to Haitians with so many ongoing domestic issues?

because many people gets killed in earth quakes too
it is unfair for the US to aid them rather than others

Morally, the U.S should help, Money-wise, the U.S shouldn't help, either way, I support our helping cause.

Everyone needs to be helping them out because this is fucking nuts. However, I don't think the U.S. are in the financial position to aid them.

But of course they're going to help anyway. We're Americans after all. And dammit, we need to help a little brother out...even if it means spiraling us into further debt. Because 10 trillion and counting isn't enough, obviously.

Yes. Don't care about what problems we are having here in the US. We should help, and so should any nation that can. And yes, we CAN help, even if it were just with people, we can do something. And I'm sure we will.

Doesnt the term donation, mean willingly giving? I rather my taxes not to go them; take care of ourselves before others. We are not responsible for what happens to them...

The point of aiding countries in cases like these is to be helped back when the scenario is reversed. It doesn't mean that Haiti is going to help the US in the future but rather that other rich countries will help the US if they see they're not selfish people.
I also agree morally that they should be helped, if your house got blown away by a hurricane, you wouldn't like to be abandoned by the government.

So you're saying that the point in helping other people is for our own benefit in the long term? The US (and other nations) should help them simply because it is morally right
