Well a couple of people in the Clan League server debated with me on if Toribash forum is a democracy.

I think its a democracy because we all have the freedom of speech and it is run and held up by the people.

I think it is, sounds resonable to me

It is democratic in some ways, for example the polls run by kai tiger for the players choice tournament and clan polls, but the important decisions are made by admins and mods.
If the forums were to be fully democratic it would be mayhem, there are some members who are capable of making an informed decision on things, however there are lots of people who are not intellectual enough to make such decisions. As well as this their could be people who do not know enough about the game or not have enough game experience to make decisions.
Besides, with the major influx of new members the main voting power would lie in the hands of the inexperienced less learned players. This would give the newer players the most power (that is only if most of them are of the same/similar opinions). So to conclude, there are democratic aspects in the forum, but having considered both sides of the argument the forum is not democratic, and shouldnt be

It's a aristocracy or oligarchy.

The forums are like a free dictatorship. We are free(mostly) to do what we want, but veb and the mods can change things, delete posts/threads, and delete our accounts. They have absolute power but they are not oppressive. It just works.

What war said, we really don't have any power, we're only led to believe we do, sure we can just stop playing, but TB's too addicting for something like that XD

I actually remember posting that the forums are not a democracy when people were complaining about something. It really isn't, and you don't have the "Fist Amendment" as some would say because not everywhere is America.

We're not the 'dictators', or 'rulers'. We are but the law-keepers. The ones who make sure this place is fun and can be kept open. The only 'dictator' would be hampa, and the host, since either could just remove the board directly.

Also, this isn't politics. You can't classify a forum in a political sense.

This is definately an oligarchy. Few hold power, and they use it fairly to provide a comfortable environment for the masses.
