I did some research (just looked at the picture for some secs) and discovered that you don't have custom joints. The holding joint is overlapped with the blue, contracting/extending/bending/rotating joint.
What you have there is that you are seeing two states of the joint at the same time.
If you're using ver 3.86, then I laugh in your face. it was released with bugs, and the controls suck. if you're effectively using 3.86, i reccomend you to download 3.83, which is the best IMO.
