Upgrading Motherboard+CPU+RAM
So I've bought a new mobo, the i7 920, and 3x2 gigs of corsair dominator ddr3 ram. Took me ages to save up for these.

The other parts would be from my current build.

One small question though:

Is there anything I should be especially aware of when changing parts out (not physically like "be careful") ?

I wouldn't need anything like new drivers would I?

Thanks in advance

Well, I recomend you to dont change the part yourself if you havent experience. And you will need new drivers because every equipement part has is own driver. So good luck with that.
multiple texture uploader! updated: multiple texture remover!
updated pretty colorlist!

The only thing you really need to do is make sure your power supply has enough weattage to handle the new board.
i liek turtelz xd
Well, be carefull, since static electricity your body has built up might do damage. Touch some metal, the case of your computer for example.
And well, drivers are a possibility, but I don't think there is any change in those since you only change the board and memory.

A tip : Install the CPU and RAM on the Mobo outside of the case. (dunno if you knew this or not...) It is way easier that way.

As with the drivers...I suggest you reinstall your windows together with all the drivers(At least that's what I did).It should also work without reinstalling though you will still have to install the drivers for the mobo.

If there are new drivers it doesn't hurt to download them for the initial install.

Backing up anything you want to keep would be the most obvious, anyone who expects Windows to not run like shit after a major hardware change should be shot. Back up, change hardware, nuke drive.

Make sure that your power supply wattage is correct. You dont want to short out your MB, I know its already been stated, but It cant be stressed enough.
Thanks.
Well I've changed pretty much every single other component so I'm already really careful about any static. I didn't know mobos had drivers though, thought it was just a bios. The ram is plug and play. And I got a 1000watt psu.

So just reinstalling windows 7, I guess.

Actually, I'm gonna read through the manual before asking any more questions. Thanks for the replies guys!

EDIT: Um, I only have the windows 7 upgrade disk, not a full one. Would I have to reinstall vista and THEN upgrade?

Oh lol, good tip.

Well if reinstalling needs windows vista first, then I'm outta luck, cuz I can't find the disk, only windows 7 upgrade disk. :<
