Eh, following tutorials exactly are no fun at all. Try doing some of your own stuff now and experiment with different light sources, highlights, etc.

These are all good, if you plan to do art by listening to other people. like Valant said, experiment with tutorials, change what they tell you to do slightly, use different techniques you already know in it, and see what you get. im sure you could create a nice, different style, lets say, metal orb, if you tryed.
