Hey guys! This is my first go at trying to make a banner:



I made it for the request here. Please give me some C&C. Remember though, it's my first try and I'm about 90% self taught on GIMP. Thanks!

White versions nicer but not great, having 3D text on an already 3D object is hard and its not worked to well for yourself for obvious reasons, the dark areas are at opposites.(look at text shadows compared to the backing object). Should try keep the piece itself to a simple shape rectangle, square ect.. but voer all with a bit of work would turn out pretty nice.

In "Zolifun" it looks like "Zoufun"

I ended up getting the prize for the request but I might as well improve my skills while I still have the thread up. I only have a couple weeks of experience with GIMP and want to get good so please more C&C.

I darkened up the gray and moved the shadow parts on the text. I kinda seperated the "L" and "I" to prevent it from looking too much like the "U" but I see what you mean about it firebolt.



I mostly learned what I did here by messing around on GIMP so I may be interested in looking at some good tutorials so if anyone knows a place with top-notch tutorials I would love them forever. I've mostly just avoided looking for them myself because there are a lot of bad and shallow ones.

i like the shading and everything but i like the black one instead.
7/10 but sense its your first 9/10

I chose the recolor because I felt it fit the description more than the red/black one did and appeared more "modern style."

i still think that the white one looks like an egg with a flat 3d text on top.

i think you didnt realized in what you were doing relative to shapes, because you have shadows in some places and others not and acording to the request itself i think it could have gotten more creativity

but quality overall is very good and it ended up quite nicely, 7-10

I was trying to go for more of a flattened disc type shape with beveled edges =\. It did kind of look like an egg to me as well. Now that I think about it I should have done more of an engraved text into the background rather than the cheesy floating text.
