Shader Problem Ongoing
Currently running Catalyst 10.5 driver with a 1GB ATI HD5870 Cypress XT Graphics Card.

I am having an issue with Shaders enabled, and have unticked every option to no success. I have updated all my drivers through the manufacturers website to no success. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an Intel Core 2 Duo. I have tried the /opt chatcache 1 ATI fix from the FAQ, no success. I am using 3.9 final now, the issue continues.

The issue is a problem with the ghost processing, an integral part of the game. My ghost will disappear when it's going too fast. At slower speeds, certain joints will disappear, then the limbs will disappear, then the whole ghost. However, the ghost remains seen on the floor reflection.

What can I do to get this to work? Must i purchase and install a copy of Windows 7 x86? Should I use that partition to install Windows XP? Is there anything I can do?

I have provided a report of my graphics card from Everest Ultimate, I also have a report of OpenGL, but it is 48k. Would you like me to post it? Maybe the opengl software/driver doesn't support a function necessary for this processing?

All help is appreciated.

The operating system will never interfere in any graphic/shader issues in toribash as far as I am concerned.

Not quite, Aspire. The combination of Windows 7 and ATI cards sometimes make a mess, and I think this is what has happened here as well. It's something about drivers and GL support that I don't understand very much of. Windows 7 has poor support, and ATI card have poor support. nVidia cards will work because of integrated support for GL or whatnot.

Try using Omega drivers instead of the regular Catalyst. Post again when you've tried that.
I'm not even sure I want to use a driver that was made before my card was built. lol. But thank you. I used the omega drivers on my X1600Pro Crossfire combo. But support and development for those drivers ceased a few years ago I believe. Let me check... "Written by Omegadrive

Just to update you guys on the situation with the drivers development...

For the past months I have tried to work with the ATI drivers but found that their installer is really crap, is a mess to work with, whoever designed it should be taken to a back alley and shot, seriously, for a company with the best hardware they got the worse software.

Anyway, I have barely had any time to touch any drivers thanks to a really dire economic problem I'm facing right now, nearly all my bills are past due and I'm getting desperate by each day passing. Been looking for work everywhere, going to interviews, helping my wife at home while she also looks for a job, so, is been hell for the last 4 months, so please be patient and hang in there with me, the Windows 7 dirvers are comming eventually, just give me some time, sorry..." from http://www.omegadrivers.net

as they did work well in XP back in the day, dudes obviously growing up and hasn't much mental focus to continue the drivers at the moment. I am honestly waiting for these to come out, as I have planned to go back to his drivers when he does. I might install a dual boot for XP.

i had a problem with shaders on windows 7 which i solved by forcing toribash to run in compatibility mode.
this can be done by right clicking the shortcut clicking properties --> compatibility --> and setting it to run for XP service pack 3.

i hope this helps

the CCC possibly has a bad install, that graphics card should be fine... and yea the omega drivers are old :x

You could always try the older drivers, oh an on the settings in CCC make sure everything is set to minimum quality maximum performance, or application preference if that's available, try different settings of catalyst AI as well.
Baby: That will have problems running shaders anyway, so don't try to tick them, especially not the extra options.
Voxus. Your information helped a little. Turning the settings down allows me to make the first 7 manipulations without a problem. The ghost will flash on the 8th, disappear on the 9th. Returns on the 10th, the next 7 are fine, the 8th it flashes and the 9th it disappears. Strangeness i say.

Gaby, read the rules for this forum please before posting a different topic on someone elses board. It will ask you to read the FAQ before posting, andt he FAQ would have given you your answer.
