[LO-RES WIP] Revolver
I discovered something scary about myself two days ago:

I can apparently draw somewhat :O

full story

I think I'll call her Romylde (coincidentally also the name of the fire goddess of a fictional natural religion in a story of mine).

This WIP is of a later stage than the one on DA. Exlusively for you on TB

I'll link/post the fully shaded and dithered version when it's done.

Since I'm new to drawing, I'd love a bit of help on something: the bottom of the swing hinge. it looks hideous... what to do?
I refuse to grab.

Hey dude u should do this more often xD its really nice like dengue said keep it up.
9/10(could use a bit more shading)
hanz0:Very well done. These annoy me much less than the default smilies we've got right now.
You really should learn about perspective... or are you using perspective lines?
Jalis: Freelancer, you're a duck | Sachi: Freelancer, you're a duck | Reanimator: Freelancer, you're a duck
satiknee: Freelancer, you're a duck | Wiggi: Freelancer, you're a duck | Tarlan: Freelancer, you're a duck
This is a very nice revolver.Nicely shaded and the shapes look as they should.
Some people often Get the shapes wrong making the drawing look odd.
Of course you should find a way to blend the black outlines in the drawing or just use a darker grey tone for them.
I like the way you used the pencil tool.I personally i'm not too god at pixelated stuff.

The funny thing is, "more often" entails repetition. This is seriously my first. Loads of ref and shameless exploitation (shift-lines to see heights from said ref). I'm not sure what this'll do to the writer's block I already have...

As for the shading, as said, WIP. only the round bits are shaded, and even them only flatly. I'll dither the edges.

Subtle XD. Actually I agree. The thing is, I basically evolved any extensive understanding of perspective while drawing this, so I really don't know a lot of it. I'm not using lines, but I did subconsciously know to draw somewhat along them. Still, I know, especially the lower part is pretty fucked up.

Really not helping though. I sorta-figured out the hinge myself, luckily.

EDIT: Btw, the vanishing point is a bit below and behind the center of the cylinder.

"Nicely shaded" is a bit generous since it's a WIP... but yah, thanks. Also, I noticed the bottom of the receiver should be showing, that's fixed in the current version. I'll be dithering along all the edges, will see what that does to the jaggedness. Also, I think I'll add some sort of background, since it's next to impossible to dither black to white sneakily.

The lo-res is really semi-intentional. I have no other software (principle not to crack PS, no patience to learn GIMP, didn't really think of myself as a visual artist so Sai's out of the picture too. Besides, no tablet), so I used Paint, which makes for either a shitty job (working lower than 100% zoom all the time) or low resolution.

I used lines and curves (Shameless exploitation, I don't think I could freehand lines like that), and some pixel-scale pencilry.

Thank you all for the comments.

Well i know its a wip and that's why i say nicely shaded mostly refering to the barrel.
As for the software you used i have to admit you have some patience.
Learning Gimp enought to do this would't take too much so i have to admit you have patience and some skills using Paint

I figured something like that. It wasn't ready either though.

Now the whole thing is

it's funny how you learn to even hate something a bit when you spend so much time on it.

Speaking of which, yeah, I was untypically (of me) patient while doing this. I think I'll learn Sai for my next piece. And maybe get a tablet sometime.
