I dont like the shading, somethings amiss. The hair was badly made, i could think of a better way to draw hair rather than the pencil tool. The way his left arm is is weird. The top part of his left arm looks like its coming directly down, but the bottom part of arm is far infront of the body (since the hilt is resting on the pelvis) and it looks like a crooked arm seen from front view, fix this by making the shoulder cap slightly tilted.

2d video game type character?

It actually looks pretty good. But a few things, the hair isn't anything but the shape, and some lines. And the body seems a bit awkward, from what i see it seems as though the arms are a bit short. Overall it's a nice piece.

if may give you an advice, start painting on a non-white background.
i always start on a gray one
doing so you can better work with white highlights and black shading

the white background makes the image extremely light
i see in your image you dont hesitate to highlight with very light colors (eg. the golden sword)
but applying such highlights to the sword, it tends to blur with the white background



i quick placed your warrior dude on a brownish background


maybe you see what i mean

The warrior has very broad shoulders, and looks cool
He looks a bit 2D, try to make him look more 3D
But the image as a whole looks pretty good

His, eyes need work make it a scary kind because right now it looks like
"Hay baby"
the sword on the left needs too look like its in his hand
the armor is ok
the belt is ok
but the pants they look too puffy for a warrior
try a groin gaurd like a samuraii
