Okay, so I was applying for ORMO, when suddenly, my laptop turns off, I turned it back on, lots of beeping, then I turned it back off, turned it back on, I got a lovely little message saying I need to reinstall some main windows components.

Any ideas what the hell happened?

No, it's sorta fixed, yet my laptop seems to crash every so often, or gets extremely slow, although, if it happen's again, I'll be sure to note it down.

A few ideas:

1: Try updating your drivers.
2: Try putting in a windows installation CD and asking it to repair your computer, you may need to set CD as boot priority.
3: Try a system restore.

Or the laptop could be overheating...

My sister used to have this problem.

Me and my dad opened it up and cleaned the fans from dust and it doesn't do like that anymore.

Lots of beeping? Might be a problem with the RAM sticks. Try taking them out and inserting them properly back on.
