PDA - The Rule of High School
Hey folks, I'm here to discuss a policy that many schools follow, some more strict than others, known as "PDA"

For those of you who aren't fully aware of what "PDA" is, it's defined as Public Displays of Affection. I think that in itself is an incredibly vague statement, since I think giving someone a "high-five" is publically displaying some sort of affection, but I digress.

The way I see it anyways, nothing should be considered "PDA" if you could do it with your mother, told everyone about it, and it wouldn't be a big deal at all. Meaning you can't have sex, make out, the bases for the most part, nudity, etc.

What I think you SHOULD be able to do in a school environment consists of: Holding hands, holding each other (like if it's cold for instance), hugging, and possibly POSSIBLY light kissing.

As I walked with my companion to lunch today, I was actually reprimanded by a teacher for holding hands. I think this is ludicrous.

Anyone else want to weigh-in on this policy?

I think there shouldn't be a real set of rules for this, it's just some social etiquette. Holding hands is not anything that should be punished. I do think it's annoying when people are face on face 90% of the time.
Thanks for the Avatar, MrAakash
I personally think the phrase should be amended if it is going to be used as a rule. EPDA, possibly. Explicit, or extensive PDA. As far as holding hands goes, there isn't anything disturbing about that. You shouldn't have been reprimanded.
Thanks.

Really, who says to a student "if that kid slaps you, come running to a staff member instead of defending yourself".

Just completely derailed myself from the topic. Yeah, school system is idiotic, reforms should be made, shit won't change. Fun stuff.

Fits pretty well in this thread too.

Anyways, I'm a liberal, I don't like it when someone tries stopping you from doing something completely trivial. Much less if the thing stopping you should be teaching you to live instead. Horrible, horrible policy.
<&Fish>: did you just infract the toribot?
<&Fish>: you're fired
<JSnuffMARS> sounds like a drug-addiction or mastu(I'll censor that word)
<bishopONE>: also yeah fisting
<mwah> Gynx is it true you got admin over hero because hes from pakistan
I'm not sure about this. Of course, the holding of hands and such seems harmless but a lot of drama before a FDA could make things difficult.

The administration definitely won't know anything about a students' personal "girl" issues, So, fights could break out but then again, they already do.

I'm on both sides but more on the "drop the PDA" side.

YOU MUST BE IMPASSIONATE.

Not really, school is as much about learning to make social connections as it is about amassing knowledge (perhaps more so, but that is another topic).

My school technically hard some '30 centimeter rule', but it was never enforced. It wasn't a big issue to give someone a hug or a kiss or hold their hand, and you know how teenage girls are, always all over everyone.

I don't see that it should be so strict.
When I see you, my heart goes DOKI⑨DOKI
Fish: "Gorman has been chosen for admin. After a lengthy discussion we've all decided that Gorman is the best choice for the next admin."
I agree with this to an extent. If its stopping children from learning. Or really disruptive then it's understandable. Otherwise no, thats stupid. In my school you can't walk in one hallway without seeing someone either kissing..not making out, just like light kissing, or hugging, holding each other.
Its a dumb rule and you should punch someone in the face.

My school, isn't as strict with this rule, but I guess it depends on the teacher.
Holding hands, kissing, hugging, holding, and in special instances making out(Depends on where and what teacher is around), but me and my girl hold hands all the time and nothing is said. I guess it is just where you live, but as long as you don't go over board I say PDA should be allowed.
As long as they aren't openly screwing each other (or similar) in public, I think that this rule seems a little restrictive.
LIGHTING FROM MY EYES
These rules sound to me like bullshit. Why to prohibit some things that actually are bringing you life experience. School should teach you how to live, at first place. It's not uni, where you learn specific knowledge about your profession.
