Ban on pre-marital sex?
A politician running for a place on Alaska's Judicial Council, Don Haase, is running under the campaign of illegalizing pre-marital sex. Not only that, he also believes that adultery should be considered a crime. The Young Turks's Acknowledgement of Don Haase. Now, I can understand adultery being considered a crime if the couple is legally bound to each other (married, civil union, etc.) and one of them goes off and cheats on the other. You would HAVE to have some sort of contract proving that you two are a couple in the first place for this to work, however. And the issue still pretty iffy/vague. But on the illegalizing pre-marital sex? Now, I find that to be just plain ridiculous. I mean, seriously? All of America is NOT the Catholic Church. And what about the people that are together, but don't feel like getting married or united? I know of such a couple. Nice couple who've been living together for about 20-something years, and they aren't legally bound to each other. So every time they had sex, it would be illegal? And the list of problems that this creates goes on.I'm curious to hear your opinions about it. Especially if you're for illegalizing pre-marital sex. Becuase I'd love to see someone try to defend that.
This would be blasphemy, madness.. I don't see why it would even be illegalized, seriously, what's wrong with pre marital sex? Nothing at all, I'm not for this at all.

Yeah, that'd be forcing a religious concept on the masses. Many of which are atheist and shouldn't have to abide by religious standards.
Also, how does he plan on enforcing this rule? Cameras everywhere? Police busting down your door when they hear erotic sounds coming from your house? If anything, finding out whether you're having pre-marital sex would be an invasion of privacy.
I imagine people would still do "it" anyway... I imagine it would kinda be like drugs. Plus how would you know?
Sally:"Whats that noise Billy?"
Billy:"The neighbors are have sex"
Sally:"CALL THE COPS!"
It is possible to happen, not likely, but possible. If you remember this was law in Rome, adultery was barbaric and considered punishable by lashing and even death.

If it were to happen, there would be various loopholes and ways around it. I also doubt it would be strictly enforced.

Here we go about athiest's rights being infringed upon again, jesus dude. I admit this does sound more like a religious thing, but dont start saying "athiest are being discrimiated, yatta yatta" Theres more other religions out there then JUST atheism that arnt catholic. Stop trying to act like atheism is a small scrawny kid that gets picked on nonstop. Anyways.

On Subject: This does sound like a religios belief of this dude, and like everyone else has said theres really no way to enforce it without invading your privacy. So even if he did pass it it really couldnt be enforced without the people counter-sueing for invading their privacy (unless its in a public place)

Its funny because blasphemy has a religious connotation.

Also yeah that's crazy. You have no right to ban that.

Marriage is a common factor in the majority of religions. This ban on premarital sex discriminates on those without a religion (atheists) or any religions which may lack a marital protocol and thus would force them to take part in a religious ceremony (catholic or no) against their will in order for them to have legal sex.

Therefore this is discriminating against atheists and/or any other religions that may exist that do not have any such ceremony equivalent to marriage.

Also you are making mountains out of mole hills.
If even strict followers of a church couldn't follow this rule back in the day, what's the point in implementing it now?
