I'd like to use this thread to talk about how, I feel, we should use/not use our off-topic forum and what type of threads I'd like/not like to see.

I like to say that this is a conversational forum. A place that is meant for off-topic conversation. As I see it a lot of current threads have no room for conversation. Threads that only lead to one word posts are annoying. Try harder to spark conversation. Instead of just asking "What's your...." try something like "Let's talk about..." or "Why...." or "How...". Something in your posts needs to lead to some type of communication/conversation/discussion/response. Stop making threads just to see your name on the screen. I'm tired of the one word responses as well as the threads that lead no where. This is for conversation.

I appreciate it if you've read thus far. Please feel free to reply with what you see, or would like to see, in off-topic.

I agree with your opinions. I've talked to Usimm about the "What's your ______" and "What do you _______" threads. I've promised to help a bit by reporting them, but it's like the off-topic section has become almost only for these threads. We shouldn't talk about what we like or what we do, but some minor happenings. Those who doesn't come in the news, but are still relevant for us.

If you'd like to add a rule up about not having them, PM its relevance to me along with a valid reason and i'll discuss that with dalir.

Trying to give a definition to how un-wibblish things must be to post is shit.

I for one, dont see the "post your happenings" thread as shit.
but see the peoples posts in it as shit.

but i do think that threads like "Why do my auctions never even start?" are shit
but the responses to it are quite good.

and the responses where worse than bad, and always are.

off topic is like wibbles. you cant define a good thread. moderation of this stuff is open to interperetation.
and i dont see much point to adding "moderators reserve the right to make exceptions" to every rule, do you?

people are just gna watch and see what gets accepted.
the moderators are gna try not push too many buttons cus they dont wanna lose their modship and arent actually sure if the average threads are actually shit enough to be closed or not.

I just see it as Rapid threads befor it turned into a support type thread.

To be honest, I can't really add too much since wibbles left us.
I made the equivalent of quitting toribash, so I can't say how off-topic should be like.
I'm still in the back-up wibbles though.

Thanks for some feedback. The instructions I received was no threads with less than 2 digit IQ. If it's a shit thread, I'll generally close it since it only begs useless replies. If the first post answers the question with no need for any more posts I'll close it to stop the "yeah this guy is right" useless posts or if it's a good thread, I'll delete the stupid posts.

It's good for me to read this as I am hesitant to close or delete controversial threads. I don't want to strangle the forum to death but with that, some shit threads get through. If you want a thread looked at, please PM me and I'll see what I think.
