This thread will evolve into what makes a cartoon become cataegorized as anime soon enough. Anime is just a category from some of the many kinds of "cartoons"
Anime traditionally uses extremely detailed pictures and slow frames. If you look close enough, most of the time not a lot is moving. That's what sets apart crappy anime from good anime.
Most American cartoons, instead of relying on pretty pictures, forgo the detail and replace with extremely fluid animation. Just look at bugs bunny or the road runner show.
Invader Zim recieved an explosion of popularity for some reason. It seems that after a while, the underground nature of things is dug up and enjoys a lot of attention
