i have been doing what jetsnix has told me, to explore gimp further, then, i noticed i great discovery, i finally learned how to make robotic metal plates of some sort. Here is my head from my experiment:

How did you put down the metal plates in GIMP?

the metal plates?, thats the point, you though its metal plates but i just used the free select tool to draw the corners then, i used brush with use from color gradient, then i colored the selected area straight forward, not by dragging the brush straight in the area
