Finding a Lapotop
I'll be going to college in a little over a week and I might be trying to find a new laptop. Right now I have an ASUS ROG G53, which would be pretty perfect for my tastes other than a ridiculously low battery life due to the lack of Nvidia optimus tech, so the graphics card is always on.
My dad's been using it for the past year since I didn't have much of a use for it and he's gotten pretty attached to it. So he's cool with me using part of my scholarship to get another computer. The problem is, I just can't find a 15 inch laptop with Optimus, a gtx460m or better card, and a 1080p screen.
Does anyone know of one? Weight isn't much of an issue to me. Size could be though. 17 inches would be too big for my bags since the bezels on these gaming laptops seem to always be pretty big.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm also considering getting a separate laptop for classes and keeping this one in the dorms but I'm going into engineering and might need the processing power of a larger laptop.

You can get an ASUS ROG with Optimus, a gtx460M card, and a 1080p screen.
I have one, it cost around $1800, has a 460M, is 1080p. But of course if those are the 'base requirements' then you can get one for $1200 probably (mine had a few upgrades).
For reference, mine is an upgraded ASUS G53JW-XT1.
From memory, thinkpads can compete in that field.
Good plan with the 2 laptops by the way, it took me a while to figure out to do that :P

Seems very similar to the one I have. I'll check if it does have optimus and I just didn't know it! That would save me a lot of trouble and money

It doesn't seem worth it to buy almost the same computer over again for Optimus, which I read a bit more on and is still pretty buggy. I've decided to invest in a lighter, more efficient laptop. Any suggestions?
Build quality would be a factor too. Needs a decent processor for engineering programs.
