My explorer.exe is being a RAM stealing bitch.
So, recenty my explorer.exe process has jumped from about 1-2% CPU, to about 20% CPU. I'm using win7, and it just started recently. I've never had problems with my .exe causing my problems, but i can tell just when going through my task bar that it's just laggy now. Any ideas?

I've ran a few virus scans and they all come up clean. Trend micro, malware bytes, CCleaner. I've also tried restarting my computer twice now, and just restarting the .exe by itself, but it's still taking up tons of CPU.

e: It's not taking up much ram, just cpu. Also, I'm on a laptop, and i'm not on any surface that would trap heat or anything, so temperature isn't an issue.
Would a fragmented disc really drastically make my .exe hog up the CPU? It LITERALLY went from 1-2% cpu to 20%

I'll try it anyways.
A fragmented disk would cause your computer to become slower, and would actually make your CPU-usage decrease since your CPU will have to spend more time waiting for the disk to fetch data (though if you have a lot of RAM then you will notice this only sporadically, since mostly the data will sit in the RAM so there will be fewer fetches from the disk).

Check your hardware to make sure it is all working OK. If, for example, some of your RAM has burned out you may see problems (though not this problem). Perhaps there is a partial CPU failure, so there is less power available and thus it is just displaying more % usage. Not sure what happens if the CPU has a failure, perhaps the entire thing stops, I'm not too sure.

Do the usual cleanup - run CC cleaner, clean dust out of the case, check for updates, etc.

Tell me more about which situations it rises is it constantly very high? Or is it just when some thing happens? What is happening with other processes?
Well, I restarted for a 3rd time and now the CPU usage is back to normal :|

It just happened suddenly. I could have NOTHING open, and my explorer.exe would take up 20% of my cpu.

My computer is a troll :l
