Speakers for my truck.
So, I'm looking to put around 400$ into them.

Since it's a truck, I don't have very much room to work with.

I have room for 2 rear speakers, I believe, 4"x10", probably not even that tall.
In my dash, I'm not sure if there is any room at all for anything because I'm afraid that it will fall apart if I try to take it off and check. If anything goes here, they'll have to be pretty freaking small, and I'll likely have to spend another 150$ to get a new dash cover.
Can't mount them in doors.
I need a sub that is less than 1' wide, so that it will even fit. That or 2 smaller subs.

I will also need a new receiver, I'm rather sure that 2 of the channels on my current one are fried.

I believe that I wont have to worry about vibrations or anything; seeing as it's an 86' and has next to zero plastic parts.
Hmm, Put in two 12s. They would fit in a half-cab. . Aha.

For a sub, I was thinking of this. But since I've never done anything like this, I'm not sure. Same thing goes as to where I buy the stuff at, I've never bought speakers and I dont know who, generally, has the best prices.

But seeing as that's 1800W, I would have to get an amp that puts out that much.

What truly confuses me is if the wattage adds up or not, is it just the highest wattage that counts?

Or would I have to get an amp for my sub and speakers, separately?

K, I just found a few woofers that look a bit more reasonable.

Just get a 12, they are around 70$, and only put out 1200 Watts. They sell Amps in 500, 1000, 2000, 2500, 3000. If you get 2, you would beed a 2500 watt amp. Only paying around 250$ for everything.

With a 12" I'm concerned that I wont have enough room to mount it. And the fact that if the magnets are anywhere near metal(trucks are made of those), it wont work very well.
Pretty much check sure that what I post is compliant.

That added up to 357, so that was about what I'm expecting to pay.

Also, if you could post any of the other things that I need to set it up, cables are obvious.

I have done just about everything you want to my car. So if you need some help, shoot me a PM.

- You have almost everything you need. Except cables. These are very easy to get and should only cost ~$40.
Something like this.
Just make sure it can handle the wattage.
- If I were you I'd buy an enclosure. If not you can mount it, that's more of a personal preference though.
- I don't think you'll need a capacitor, I don't have one, but it won't hurt to have one.
Other then that you're pretty well off. Have fun with it

That :P

But thanks for actually confirming that what I had selected would work.
One thing about that amp that does concern me though.

Power Handling
125W Max x 4 + 300W x 1(Mono) @ 4 ohms
200W Max x 4 200W x 1(Mono) @ 2 ohms

Would I have to bridge the power?
If so, what does it even mean? lol. I had read something about if a single channel didn't equal what the speaker needed that's what you do.
So you just wanna put subs in it or what? I'm in the same boat as May0 here by the way.

I'm confused on what you mean by adding speakers, do you want to replace the stock tweeters? Add subwoofers? etc.

Yeah, except they arent stock, they're my brother's old speakers, which suck.

I'm getting 2 speakers(400W) and a sub(1000W).
Would I have to get an amp that has 2x 400W channels and 1x 1000W channel?
Or could I get it with 4x 200W and 2x500, for example?

Also, do the ohms of both the speakers/sub have to match up with that of the amp?
For my car's I just plugged the speakers into the wires from the car and they were completely fine. I think it'd be much simpler to use your amp for just your sub, especially because it's your first time.
