Upgrading graphics card
Yeah, currently have a 5770 and was never too happy with the performance.
was thinking of upgrading for BF3 and ME3 to something like a amd 6870 or a nvidia 560, around that pricerange.

oppinions/options?

current specs:
AMD phenom II x4 945
ATI 5770 cucore
4gb ddr3
some random Asus HN7something motherboard.
coolermaster 640W (would probably need to up that aswell, power jump to these cards is quite a bit.)

Can you post your Computers specs please?
Mostly games are best experienced with Nvidia
If I would buy a GPU I'd chose nvidia, because its promising and is selling some powerfull units.

However ATI sells rather cheap and powerfull too, but its not as compaitable as nvidia.
righto
updated.

i agree nvidia usually has the better quality cards, but AMD has the range/variety to fit a card into my price limit. so depending on if i can find a 560 or better inside the similar price range (+-R2000-R2500 / +-300$ / +-200-220 Pounds/euro)
the amd also gives a better all round performance rather than just ingame framerate.

The 560ti is the best (high end) value for money card available at the moment. Unless you're overclocking like a mad cunt or have a ridiculous number of peripherals you won't need to get a higher wattage PSU, I have a 955BE and a 6950 and I'm fine with a 500w PSU.
yea dont go for the 560, either get the 560 ti or the ati 6870... the only thing that makes the ti's better than the 6870 really are the ones with the higher factory overclocking
You don't say?
I think if u are going for the 560ti, it is better to think about getting ati 6950, the price is about the same but the performance is on the side of ATIs beast.
A domestic magazine (Svet kompijutera) did a test of gfx cards that cost 100-200 eur and they found that ati 6950 beats 560ti in practically any test they put at it.
Best performance for the money invested went to 6870 (a score of 105 in their test), 560ti got a score of 79 (value for money) and 6950 got a 100. Between 6870 and 560 there is no doubt, get the ATI.
This is magazine has been around since the down of IT, I trust their info is reliable.
The issue 10/2011 is not available online yet so I can link it, if u don't trust me I can scan the pages xd.

Btw the tests were: Crysis Warhead (DX10, 64 bit, enthusiastQ), Metro 2033 (DX11, Very High, no DOF), F1 2010 (DX11, UltraQ), 3DMark 11 (64 bit, eXtremeGPU), Battleforge (DX11, VeryHigh), 3DMArk Vanage (DX10 eXtremeGPU), AvP (DX11, VEryHigh) in 1650x1050; 1920x1200 and 1920x1200 (4xAA,16xAF)

On the other hand ATIs drivers are usually buggier than nVidia (but I managed to play rage, with a tree day delay with ATI too ), and nVidia offers Cuda...

wishful eyes deceive me
the 6950 is substantially more expensive over here

while the 6870 is a fair bit cheaper than the 560ti

the reviews ive read and whatnot say the 560's get about 5fps more than the 6870, but the 6870 has a better all round performance. although the all round performance isnt much of a muchness, my 5770 handles photoshop without breaking a sweat...

nvidia drivers are apparently substantially better than AMD.

sofar from talking around its 3-3 between the 2 cards, cant imagine i can wrong with either really.

from past experience with the 2 brands, im leaning towards the 560ti.
ive had 2 nvidia ones which i was happy with for ages, but my ati/amd one... i havent been impressed much with.
toribash hates the amd cards for some reason and i ran metro2033 on medium on a brand new card, makes no sense really.

will ask around a bit more

I've had nVidia before and now I have ATI 4850, for 3 years now, and I am very happy with it. Yes the drivers bugged several games, most notable was in Witcher which had several horizontal lines that could not be fixed by anything I tried.
Also 5fps doesn't mean much, if its 5 fps on top of 50 than its not that important, if its 5 fps on top of 15 than its a lot. I am pretty sure the difference is 5-10% at max.
Get the 560ti if your gut tells you to, it sure is a good card. I am just wondering if the 50 eur difference compared to 6870 isn't a bit too much for such a slight difference in performance.
128 bit cards could never go for high options in new gfx demanding games such as metro, even if u had a 128 bit nVidia like gts 450 u would have a problem with metro.
Odd to me u have probs with tb, I never had them with my 4850.
Well anyway I am getting the 6950 if my card can't handle Skyrim on the level I want it too, provided I am thrilled with Skyrim as was I with Oblivion.

What ever you choose, I hope it serves you good and you are happy with it

EDIT: u probably see from what I write I like ATI more than nVidia
wishful eyes deceive me
i'm not biased personally, i like both companies because they both produce great performing cards. i will say this though, the 560 ti is an awesome card with better drivers than the 6870 but honestly that's the only thing i see holding the 6870 back from performing better. that and some slight overclocking.
