Good video editing software?
So, as it started out, I used Windows Movie Maker because I understood it, but the quality was crap. As a result, I looked up Sony Vegas because everyone seemed to love it, but I don't feel like dishing out $600.

Finally, I tried this program called Lightworks, and it seems alright, except that when I import Fraps' video files, it doesn't bring the video, and when it exports it's still the exact same size(like 4 gigabytes).

So, any suggestions?

$600? Vegas doesn't cost anywhere near that unless you're aiming for Vegas Pro (which is overkill for game stuff)
Get one of the lower versions; but not directly from Sony - It's cheaper on Amazon etc.

Sony probably has student versions/discounts too, lots of companies do (eg Autodesk allows students to download almost all their programs free, Microsoft allows copies of Windows 7 Professional and Visual Studios among others)
Try Camtasia Studio or Cyberlink Power Director

Even with student discounts it's actually cheaper to get Vegas from resellers. TBH I have no idea what the hell is going on with Sony's pricing strategy.

Camtasia Studio, seriously? You could buy FRAPS + Vegas 11 + Power Director & have enough change left over to get blind-drunk for the same money.

Although vegas sounds like it's excellent, I'm gonna wait until I have the money and just use a free/very cheap one for now, as I am a lazy minor and such.

Also, I think it's important that I add I'm mainly just doing gameplay footage, and I'd like to export in 720p/1080p.

I don't understand you people.. throwing away 600$ just to edit some videos and it isn't even your job, and on the second thing, you can even get them for free.

By the way SonyVegas is perfect for cropping, and adding some effects, and is easy to use. Adobe After effects is a bit better, you can do the same things as in SonyVegas, but it has more plugins, effects, and options to play with. It can easily handle 3d models, but much more difficult, and takes some time to learn using it.

Adobe Premiere Pro + Adobe After Effects are both programs that work really well for video editing, using them both myself and their really easy to use. Mighty good tutorials out there as well.

You don't need to be pro to use premiere, you just need to be willing to learn and search the web a little.

I was a little lucky though, since I learned the basics at school.

Edit: Geez, this thread was kind of old...Hmm. (Did i just was my fucking time?) T_T
