My first try at a tribal head, made by GIMP.

HOLY CHRIST IT'S FU- It's OKAY.

Not the best I've seen, might wanna try to change the red shapes inside the black right under the eye to make it flow better, and by the back of the head, the two red shapes, again, make them flow better(try to turn they around).

Meh, 6/10.

I read the title, it's your first time, and I'm telling you what you should change. Even if it is your first time, you should know how to make textures flow. If you read my post, you would see that I gave CnC.

I liked the idea, but I kind of agree with Grad. Try to make the red shapes curve more to fit in with the black shapes. Overall, a nice idea.

Its not terrible, But i think inverting the colors would make it nice, And maybe the tribal have a sub design like mine has dragons and reptiles.

Keep practicing is everything that really needs to be said here. No point trying to fix this just move on, maybe do a couple of tutorials.
