[vid] Speedpainting a Robot Hand

same progress as in all of my works.

Made in photoshop CS4

Took me a bit over an hour, the part you don't see at the start is just me fondling around trying to get my anatomy straight which took me some time, the video is 5:46 long which is speeded up 10 times.

Feel free to comment (:
as always my work will be at deviantart

you're so patient
fuck, iv never spent so much time on a specific part, id lose my nut going over something so many times. maybe its just a form of OCD that if i do something, planned out completely beforhand

lacks depth, especially around the thumb area, just looks attached to the side, your drawing technique is very flat, and it lacks the same flare as your other recent stuff, but il keep in mind that it was just a demonstration on process

am i the only one who draws with directional line? its probably half the reason i didnt spend as much time on pieces as you, and why i get so frustrated with my drawing work recently.
gna say the same to you as i said to cerberus recently, improve your technique and you'll see a very noticable increase in the quality of your work.
directional line will add a sense of depth that your work has been lacking thus far
rough directional line examples

one hour is patience now? :P I spent like 2 hours today drawing anatomical dolls over and over again.

I draw more stuff than I post, from pencil drawings (yes I draw on paper too) to sketches and failed attempts.

Yes about the depth, I sticked to a very small range of contrasts and colors, easier this way. I could make this equal to my other recent drawings but I was time limited because of the video eating my process, hardrive space and youtube capture limit.

I pretty much just need to take my drawing and 3d modeling more seriously, too little being done, really have to pump up the progress if I plan on working professionally in this field in 3 years time (when I finish my current education in media tecnology). Would be pure awesomeness to be able to do what you love for a living (: and now the summer vacation has begon too

Found out that character modeling and drawing really go well hand in hand, what you learn from modeling a body in Maya you can directly apply to drawing and the other way around, its all about understanding the body.

Also ofc bagging a summer job as a graphics artist for a local television channel helps too ;) life is good.

i usually spend so much time on sketches and pre sketches that i go mad by the time i do the legit thing, then when i start making progress, it ends up shit.

i do the stick figure sketch, then i do the base anatomy sketches(see vid) then i refine, and refine again, then do the legit sketch.
i usually lose my nut halfway through the base anatomy sketch

Chipper doodle was the first song and super friendly was the second. Not easy finding royalty free music worth using, benefit of it tho is that youtube won't block it for copyrighted content.
