Fallout 3 Vs Fallout New Vegas
I am buying a game but I don't know which one is better.
Title says it all.
^_^
Definitely not Josh Lintag
both are the same.

if you asked like f2 or f3 that could be a question.

I have played both and both of them are really amazing. Although, I pick Fallout 3 over FNV. I didn't really enjoy FNV much and Fallout 3 is much better.(my opinion.)
I <3 coffee
Well, i personally prefer the story and game-world of Fallout 3 but i like what they added in FoNV like new weapons, armor, functions like item building, crafting weapon moding and Hardcore mode

I suggest you go with Fallout 3 first and later FoNV because you will feel very limited if you go the other-way around like i did.
I just realised I have the stupidest name in the forum
fallout 3, no question.

the whole vault idea at the begining was great, you had a charcter.
i didnt play fallout 1 or 2, but fallout 3 felt fresh, and fun, and had a sense of humour. at the time it was just the bees knees.

New vegas didnt have the same appeal, released years later, with the exact same graphics and a weaker storyline. Didnt even bother finishing it, i got bored.
didnt care for the "make a gun" thing or all the new guns, felt like fallout 3 was taken over by the COD team, same graphics, new guns.

When it comes to the storyline, Fallout 3. When it comes to gameplay mechanics, Fallout NV.
But they're making a Fallout 4 right? Perhaps this will have the mechanics just like NV (or better) with a richer story
I played both games and also have to say that I prefer Fallout 3.

As mentioned above, Fallout NV uses the same engine and the same graphics. The only difference are the gameplay elements they have added to NV. And the Fallout 3 story is better for sure. I never will forget the moment when I first came out of the vault in Fallout 3, was quite an epic moment imo and it felt more living since some npc's were standing around an old atomic bomb and even created a religion about it as example, while in NV you don't have something like that. Not to mention that in Fallout 3, as BenDover already said, you had your character. You play him/her since the birth, thats quite awesome since you even experience a part of the daily vault life. In NV you start and don't really know anything about your identity.

Also, if you run around in Fallout 3, the world got a lot of stuff you can discover and the enviroment changes, while in NV everywhere is dessert (Sure it's Vegas, but in my opinion it seems like they didn't care as much about the design of places as they did in Fallout 3).

And IF you really need more weapons and stuff, there are thousands of mods out there that make the game even more awesome.
