Movement Wiki Article

That is the link to the article I just wrote on movement. The purpose of this is really to help newer players, but could really be referenced by anybody, because I go into pretty deep detail. This is not it, but I j ust worked like four hours on it and I am done for today. In the near future, I plan to add sections on how joints interact with eachother, as well as momentum.

While people are free to add to it, PLEASE make sure everything you say is credible, and do not remove anything I wrote, just add stuff please. I do have the original copy saved...

I hope this will help a lot of people, and let me know what you think!

Lumbar:
Example: If a punch is moving right, bend your lumbar to the right. This will keep the body moving away so it takes longer for the punch to land, giving more time to dodge

If the attack is accelerating very fast it would be better to use it into the other direction so you stop it before it gets really much power.

Wrists:
How they are used in attacks is to either increase the surface area of the blow

You want to decrease it, not increase.

Ankles:
They can be extended, to create more surface area to strike.

Actually it decreases.

It's nice but I doubt any beginner would go through the work to actually read all that stuff. And it sounds like you have time to actually dodge attacks. But if grab is enabled you can forget about complete dodging and in wushu you will have problems to stay at the opponent if you use dodging like that.
Oblivion: that wasn't hilarious
Oblivion: it was brilliantly complex though
Oblivion: hands down man

Thw wrist thing you said really is not true all the time. It depends on the kind of strike you are going for. The ankles it depends on your angle to the enemy. And that is very true for the lumbar thing. Thanks for that.

And I don't expect newbies to really read the whole thing, but I hope it will be a great reference tool.

EDIT: Nuthug, I added your lumbar suggestion. Thanks.

Why should you want more surface? It just decreases the possibility of breaking.

It increases the damage.
More impact area.
And extending your feet increases impact zone if you hit with the top of the foot.
