The Universe Project - A simulation of humanity
We are creating a Virtual Parallel Universe; a universe simulation that plays like a video game. Play it anywhere, on your phone, on your computer, on your game consoles. Invent new tools, structures, and even skills to use in your survival against the elements, and against other players.

These guys are attempting to create a game in which you are in an alternate reality just like earth, except it starts at "the beginning of time". You have to create and expand your knowledge in order to survive. Everyone effects each other. You can steal, build, discover, anything you can do it real life but never had the opportunity to do. Basically you and everyone who plays this game will be creating a new earth.
I think this is a pretty cool game idea, and I think they will be making a kickstarter soon. Not sure how in the world they plan to create such a game, but I wanna keep an eye on it when they start developing and sharing more. For now, you can only really get some referral rewards and a neat video explaining how the game will work.

I like the idea they're going for, but I have no idea how they're going to pull off the "make your own tools and skills" thing and just about anything similar.
Outside of giving the players access to the game code and editing software, they're going to have to impose pre-built tools/"construction interfaces" (for lack of a better word) and such that can only produce a limited number of skills, tools, objects etc. and that's going to be nothing new.
